If someone told you to jump off a cliff, would you? Probably not. And with good reason. There’s most likely some information, tools and skill set you’d like to have under your belt first, such as what equipment you would be using, its condition, what’s the wind direction and speed, not to mention the most basic of all, some lessons.
The same preparation is needed for online marketing. If you think you can hop online and make a whirling success of it right away, you were lied to. Either that or you’re delusional.
Compared to the daily grind of a 9-5, having someone profit from your labor and ask permission to go on holiday, internet marketing is a breeze. But there are rules to the game and pitfalls to avoid if you want to make it.
Many don’t make a hill of beans online. They go broke but others don’t. Ever wondered why that is? Better yet ask, How come?
Asking Why that is, is probably a waste of time since the common denominator is man. Too many variables at play to have a definitive answer. But to ask, How come? is a horse of a different color.
Ever read the book, Do What You Love and the Money Will Follow? Great book and it says it all. Passion. You must have passion. Be it for the company or its products and services. Or maybe for internet marketing itself. Or, what the fruits of your labor will provide for you and others.
Passion is the fuel that drives your engine. And your engine is the culmination of the education and work necessary to take you places you didn’t dare dream.
I will have to say that many online entrepreneurs are so good at what they do that they ignore passion because they can sell anything. But I’m concerned about those of you who are not so knowledgeable at working an online business successfully.
While passion is a key element, it’s not the only element. Having good marketing skills, widespread advertising, keyword strategies, company support, etc., are also essential to your online success. For the beginner, however, lack of passion reduces your success rate.
Therefore, no passion, no desire. No desire, no willingness to do the work you are being trained to do.
Marketing online isn’t too difficult, nor time consuming but it does demand self-motivation. Typically it’s your passion that fuels the jets to not only get you off the ground running but sustains you throughout your journey to success.
You have a great resource in the Internet search engines to learn the Internet Marketing industry for business opportunities, USE IT!
Three things to look for when searching online are a solid company with sound principles, a stand-alone product that is in demand and sell-able, and offers training and support.
Don’t try to convince yourself or let anyone else convince you that you should “give it a shot,” or “see what happens” without first ensuring the company met your criteria. Especially, the part about passion. Where is it in those two comments?
Note: It’s your goal to get to the point where you can sell anything online. That end skill and goal is a worthy one indeed.
Remember, there are other steps you must make before you step into Internet Marketing but if you don’t first find the right company products and services to be passionate about, all of those other steps may just cause you a lot of frustration instead of bringing you great success.
If a company’s product or service has proven itself marketable and you don’t have one ounce of passion or desire to get behind it, then wrap yourself in a blanket because it’s going to get down right chilly. It’s an expensive venture that must simply be avoided.
