I’m always on the lookout for where to find decent royalty free images. I use them when I’m putting together my content sites, and in the past it was a constant struggle to find the right pictures for my sites. Especially since I only used to know of a couple that I had pretty much tapped out… However; I’ve discovered a few more and thinking of you; I have compiled a short list of 20 resources I use for royalty free images (note: these links open in a new window):
1. Turbo Photo: Over 2000 free stock photos in over 10 categories. http://www.turbophoto.com/Free-Stock-Images/
2. Stock Vault: A free Stock Photo sharing site. All images are free for personal and non-commercial use. http://www.stockvault.net/
3. Font Play: Free photos for any occassion. No need to give credit for both personal and commercial use.

4. Every Stock Photo: A search engine for free stock images. These images are license specific so be sure to check out the license for each photo by clicking on it.

5. Stock.xchng: Check out the gorgeous shots organized into lots of different categories, making your search as easy as possible. http://www.sxc.hu/
6. The Morgue File: Public Image Archive for professionals. Free High Res images for both corporate and public use. http://www.morguefile.com/
7. Gimp Savvy: A community indexed photo archive with over 27,000 free photos and images. http://gimp-savvy.com/PHOTO-ARCHIVE/
8. Flickr Creative Commons: Users of Flickr who offer their photos under the Creative Commons license.

9. Free Foto: These guys claims to be “the largest collection of free photographs on the Internet.” They’re available for offline projects as well, as long as you’re not using them to make a profit. http://www.freefoto.com
10. Kave Wall: Look for images and textures in unique categories like tattoo, smoke, and food. http://www.kavewall.com/stock/
11. A Digital Dreamer: Free Royalty Free Stock Photography: Unlike other sites with free images, these are also royalty free. http://www.adigitaldreamer.com/gallery/index.php
12. Free Photos Bank: This features a handful of the newest photos in their directory, so check back often. http://www.freephotosbank.com/
13. Free Digital Photos: Thousands of royalty free photos for websites, newspapers, magazines, video and TV productions, PowerPoint presentations, forums, blogs and school work. http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/
14. PD Photo: Public Domain Digital Photo Database. Browse through the categories and subcategories in this site’s database, most of which depict the urban and rural landscapes of the United States. http://pdphoto.org/
15. Visipix: The largest fine art and photo “museum”. Free copyrights for private & commercial use. Search over a million photographs and fine art pieces. http://visipix.dynalias.com/
16. Cepolina: Over 8000 free photos are available for download. On cepolina, you can choose to save photos in up to five different formats (up to 1024X768 pixels). http://www.cepolina.com/freephoto/
17. DexHaus: A fast growing image catalog with images not easily found in a “regular” database. http://www.dexhaus.com/v2/
18. Free Stock Images: Improve your content with these beautiful stock images. http://www.freestockimages.net/
19. Public Domain Pictures: A repository for royalty free stock photos. All pictures are free for commercial and personal use. http://www.publicdomainpictures.net/
20. Free Photographs: Online Repository for Royalty Free Images for non-commercial use. http://www.free-photographs.net/
