As you know, to generate an online income, you must bring prospects to your website, there is no other way.
Inviting prospects to your website is known by many names (driving traffic, sponsoring, lead generation, referring, etc.), whatever you call that process, you are simply bringing prospects to your website.
You can generate targeted traffic, or generic traffic. In most cases, you’ll want targeted traffic . . . people who are specifically interested in what you have to offer.
You can utilize many methods in generating website traffic, namely classified ads, email marketing, articles and press releases, pay per click advertising, funded sponsoring, purchase leads, joint ventures, and forum and social networds to list a few.
Some of these methods are free, some have an associated cost.
One very clever method can even generate an income while building your website traffic. That method is called funded sponsoring. In funded sponsoring you can offset other traffic generation costs through the income earned by implementing the funded sponsoring process.
Article marketing gives you free, targeted traffic. Write short, informative articles about your product or business containing embedded links to your website. Then simply post your articles to various article directories.
Webmasters will then choose your article from the directories and post to their website. Over time, your article will find its way across the vast internet, sending you much desired targeted traffic.
For the most part, press release marketing functions the same as article marketing.
Joint venturing with other online marketers can also be free, targeted traffic. In joint venturing you usually exchange mailing lists with your joint venture partner.
Building relationships with other members in forums and social networks is an effective method for creating traffic to your website. Join forums and networks in your particular niche. After establishing relationships, introduce your prospects to your business or product.
Mailing lists are an absolute necessity for any online marketer. Build a targeted mailing list, then create a relationship with your list members by sending newsletters, product information, industry news, through an autoresponder.
Classified advertising can be valuable, targeted traffic. Classified advertising can be free, or paid. Free classified advertising usually produces very light traffic.
Pay per click advertising can get very expensive, very fast. Before utilizing this method, get some expert coaching. A real advantage to pay per click is that it is extremely targeted traffic. If done correctly, pay per click is well worth the cost.
Building your online business can get costly. If you’re just getting started, look for ways to maximize every dollar you spend. Perhaps the most effective method for generating solid traffic to your website is article and press release marketing.
Funded sponsoring is an extremely valuable method because you earn income while building your traffic, thus offsetting other costs.
The critical point in traffic generation is to choose a method and get started. Once you perfect a method, choose another and become proficient in that method. Learn to use as many traffic generation methods as you can.
The bottom line is this . . . your business will not survive without traffic.
